Reforming Interconnection in New Mexico

Gridworks has been broadening its horizons, supporting the Public Regulation Commission of New Mexico to update its interconnection process and thereby ease customer adoption of distributed energy resources.

The update process began in March 2021 with biweekly working group meetings involving over 60 stakeholders. Gridworks has facilitated the work of industry and utility stakeholders to address a number of technical interconnection issues, including capacity screening, hosting capacity, and non-exporting solar-plus-storage.

The group’s collaboration has enabled significant learning and sharing of expertise by all participants. Specific proposals are being developed and refined collaboratively by DER industry leaders and utilities. These proposals will be central to the initiative’s final report, due to be formally submitted to the Commission in October. Participants have also been developing further scope for a second phase of interconnection updates in 2022.

Gridworks is honored to assist this amazing group of leaders as they open a big, promising new clean energy market. We are pleased to share their worthwhile efforts with you.
